CAN bus

A Controller Area Network (CAN bus) is a robust vehicle bus standard designed to allow microcontrollers and devices to communicate with each other in applications without a host computer. — https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAN_bus

It is used in vehicles to control such things as the windows and mirrors.  Because of this it is noise-resistant, well supported in many microprocessors, and is relatively inexpensive.
